Kansas City Art Institute

Role: Art DirectOR + DESIGNER

A selection of print design projects that I designed for the Kansas City Art Institute Alumni Relations and Communications Departments while I was a freelancing for them between 2012–2013.

I designed promo postcards and a new visual identity for the KCAI Alumni Email Newsletter, attracting younger KCAI alumni to read the newsletter and better engage with the school’s Alumni Department.

I also designed numerous alumni gathering postcard invites, as well as other collateral for the campus like stickers for the Cafe Nerman coffee shop (aka ‘The Nerm’).

At the time, the Kansas City Art Institute brand identity centered around the shape of the negative space between the main campus buildings. The resulting brandmark was a jagged, abstract shape that could be cropped and rotated to make infinite compositions, patterns and frames for images. KCAI allowed me to make playful work that still honored their brand identity guidelines.
